DO 550 Double Rope Clutch
The Barton DO 550 clutch is a top - choice for both cruising and racing yachts. It's crafted from modern, lightweight materials that can handle the tough marine environment. The molded parts are made of high - grade plastics, which are strong, light, and impact - resistant. The cams and bases are made of marine - grade 'Spectro' anodized aluminum, offering high wear resistance and a long lifespan. Stainless steel rope fairleads at both line entry and exit points protect both the clutch and the lines from wear.
The true clutch mechanism allows you to adjust the line through the unit when it's closed and locked, with very little slippage. Releasing it under load is easy and positive. You can operate the opening and closing action precisely, even with cold and wet hands.
A unique feature is the removable insert on the handle's top face. Pop it out and replace it with printed colored inserts to quickly identify the unit's function, like for the main, genoa, or spinnaker.
The DO 550 clutch has a bolt - together construction, making servicing and part replacement a breeze.

Using the Barton Marine DO 550 Rope Clutch is straightforward. First, install it on your yacht according to the provided technical specifications for hole centers and dimensions. When you need to adjust the line, the true clutch mechanism allows you to do so even when the unit is in the closed, locked position. Just make sure to hold the handle firmly. To release the clutch under load, apply a bit of pressure, and it'll disengage easily. The unique removable insert on the handle's top face is a great way to label the clutch's function. Simply pop out the existing insert and replace it with a printed colored one. For maintenance, thanks to its bolt - together construction, you can easily take it apart to clean or replace parts. Keep it in a dry place when not in use to prevent corrosion, especially in the harsh marine environment. Also, check the stainless steel rope fairleads regularly for any signs of wear, as they play a key role in protecting both the clutch and the lines.
